By re-imagining and upgrading existing resources, combined with low-impact new construction, we help our clients shape spaces that are fundamentally sustainable - spaces that evoke love by honoring their past, inspire the present through thoughtful design and use of materials, and are designed and built to age well into the future.

We believe that size matters - and smaller is often better. We "right-size" the spaces we create, preserving resources, making them easy to use, and serving all needs comfortably and gracefully. By stacking functions and looking at the whole life cycle of a building and it's occupants we can create spaces that are flexible now and adaptable over time.

Our real habitat is not the built environment - it is the natural world around us. When we think of the spaces we create as parts of that larger ecosystem, it is only natural that our buildings should incorporate and participate in the sustainable and regenerative cycles of energy, water, heating, cooling, growth and renewal.

founder + principal
With 25 years of experience in design, coordination, expediting, project management and construction administration, my portfolio includes single and multifamily, mixed use, adaptive reuse and community projects and my work spans from initial conceptual design to hands-on construction administration.
I am a LEED AP Accredited Professional, Permaculture Design Course Graduate and Certified Passive House Designer. Prior to founding there.studio, I co-founded a design build company specializing in off-grid projects, and worked independently, as well as for notable firms, in Germany, Australia and the USA.
A deep commitment to resource preservation and environmental responsibility are integral to my work. I find particular joy in "bringing to light what is already there", creating unique and meticulously crafted spaces within responsible footprints for each site.
My exposure to navigating complex and often limiting approval processes feeds my passion for improving building regulations, promoting alternative building materials, and advocacy for social and environmental justice.
At the heart of all my projects is a trusting, professional and empathetic relationship with my clients. I am aware that building your place to stay is one of the biggest commitments you might make in your life, and I take personal pride and responsibility in guiding you through that process in the most supportive way possible.
